Overview

Located in the wilderness of the Langtang region in Nepal, Tilman Pass stands tall with an attitude of 5320m. It was named after the British adventurer and explorer H. W. Tillman (1898-1977) who explored the Himalaya in the mid-20th century. Tilman Pass is one of the toughest mountain passes of Nepal that connects the Tamang valley of Langtang with the sacred lakes of Panchpokhari while featuring continuous views of the Himalayas including the Langtang Himal range and Jugal Himal range. Tilman Pass Trek starts with your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, from where you drive to Syabrubensi via Dhunche. The drive to Syabrubensi is filled with pleasant sceneries of the green forests and the local villages. The trail passes through Lama Hotel to reach the oldest Tamang settlement in the Langtang region, Langtang village. Continuing on the Langtang valley, the trail also reaches the oldest monastery of Langtang in Kyanjin Gompa. You also hike to Tserko-Ri (4984m) for a panoramic view of the Langtang Himal range, Langshisha Ri (6427m), Yala Peak (5500m), and so on. The trek takes you from the land of enchanting rhododendron forest to yak pastures to the moraines of vast glaciers. Varieties of alpine flowers and exotic wild animals can be seen during the trek as the trail goes through Langtang National Park. Crossing Tilman Pass (5320m) can get challenging as the trail is mostly frozen and susceptible to rock falls. After crossing Tilman Pass, the trail reaches the tranquil lakes of Panchpokhari, the 9th highest wetland area in the world. The trek then ends with a walk through the quiet forests until you reach Chautara. Tilman Pass Trek is an ideal trek for adventurers looking to conquer a quiet trail in the foot of the Himalayas.
