Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek is one of Nepal’s most challenging and spectacular high-altitude adventures, leading you through the remote Rolwaling Valley and across the formidable Tashi Labsta La Pass (5,755 m). Hidden between the Langtang and Khumbu (Everest) regions, this trek offers raw Himalayan wilderness, ancient cultural encounters, and breathtaking views of Everest, Gaurishankar, and Langtang Lirung. Your journey begins in Kathmandu, followed by a scenic drive to Gonggar Khola via Dolakha, a historic town east of the capital. The trek starts at Gonggar and passes through traditional villages like Simigaon, Bedding, and Na, inhabited by Sherpa and Tibetan communities. The trail winds through rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, and glacial valleys, gradually gaining altitude as you head toward the icy Tsho Rolpa Lake (4,540 m) — one of Nepal’s largest glacial lakes. From Na, the route becomes more demanding as you traverse the Trakarding Glacier (4,800 m) and make your way toward Tashi Labsta La Pass (5,755 m) — a technical crossing that rewards trekkers with panoramic views of Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Gaurishankar (7,134 m), and Langtang Lirung (7,227 m). After crossing the pass, you descend into the Sagarmatha National Park, entering the iconic Everest Region. The trail merges with the classic Everest Base Camp route, taking you through Thame, Namche Bazaar, and Monjo before reaching Lukla, where your trek concludes with a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Trek is ideal for seasoned trekkers seeking solitude, technical terrain, and a true Himalayan challenge. The best seasons for this trek are spring (March–June) and autumn (September–November), when the skies are clear and the mountain vistas are at their most dramatic.
